News
Welcome!
Luckless is a version of Pokémon Showdown with as much chance removed from the mechanics as possible. In general, this is accomplished in three ways:
- Status conditions and stat changes function on a severity system
- Accuracy and evasion affect move power and severity
- Critical hits have their own severity system of discrete stages
The full list of changes can be found here. Changes highlighted in green are new to the most recent update. I'd say good luck, but...well, you know.

1.2.0 Update
- Moves that bypass accuracy checks (except for slot, side, and field conditions) now have associated severity mechanics.
- Many moves and secondary effects have been made binary (i.e. they fail at <50% accuracy).
- Status-healing berries now require at least 50 severity to activate.
- The secondary effect of Throat Chop is now affected by severity.
- Fixed a bug that caused the length of Embargo to always be rounded down.
- Fixed a bug that caused OHKO moves to do incorrect damage on lower-level targets.
- Fixed a bug that caused the effect of Cursed Body to end early.
The full list of new binary moves and moves with new severity mechanics can be found here.

To Do
Luckless is in beta and currently supports Gen 7 Singles mechanics. The following are planned additions for the future:
- Support for additional generations
- Support for Double Battles
- Total and ellapsed duration of status conditions in tooltips
- Severity mechanics for slot, side, and field conditions (currently they always have maximum severity)
